Portrait of a Graduate Aligned to 16 National Career Clusters

NYSED Portrait of a Graduate Aligned to the 16 National Career Clusters

The New York Sate Education Department's (NYSED) Portrait of a Graduate is a shared vision from the New York State Education Department (NYSED) that describes the skills, knowledge, and mindsets students should develop by the time they graduate high school.

It emphasizes more than academic achievement. Students are encouraged to become critical thinkers, effective communicators, problem-solvers, and responsible citizens who are prepared for college, careers, the military, and civic life. The Portrait of a Graduate focuses on real-world skills such as collaboration, creativity, adaptability, and ethical decision-making, helping ensure graduates are ready to succeed in an ever-changing world.
